Top 10 Goals of 2021

Spending the money you’ve earned should be fun. Not just earmarked for what’s going to happen 30 years down the road. Even though, when you think about the best case scenario for your last 30 years, that should be fun too. Welcome to 2021’s Top 10 Goals list.

Alright alright alright.

Is that phrase okay to use now that everybody stopped using it? Like one of those songs that you can’t stand to hear again, but then it hits you out of the blue and everything is right in the world for just a second? Maybe it's a stretch. But hey - you’re on a finance blog. Let it happen.

While the Top 10 List is chock full of incredible things to plan for, we did see a drop in extravagance this year. For obvious reasons. No Hudson home from 2020. No horses like in 2018. But don’t worry - there’s plenty of good in this year’s list.

Take a look. Do some research. Add a few of these to your own list. Because spending the money you’ve earned should be fun. Not just what’s going to happen 30 years down the road. Even though, when you think about the best case scenario for your last 30 years, that should be fun too.

Here are the things your friendly neighborhood HENRY is planning to spend their money on:

10. Oura Ring ($400)

It’s like You Season 3 took over and the Oura Ring stepped into its rightful place rounding out our Top 10 Stash Plan Goals of 2021.

9. 30th Birthday Trip ($2,750)

Once again, getting TF out of town makes this year’s list. Whether it’s international, domestic, or a full blown continued staycation, 30 is something to celebrate. You’re really making it.

8. Knoll Womb Chair ($4,804)

This piece of furniture was designed with a serious purpose and visual in mind. The ask? “A chair that was like a basket full of pillows - something [she] could really curl up in." And now it’s available for anyone to have a seat in. Or lay down in. Or whatever it is you want to do in this chair - judgment free zone here.

7. Golf Simulator ($25,000)

Why go outside when you can continue to stay indoors? Wait, that wasn’t a great question. How about, “Why be dependent on the weather when you get to play an outside game?” While golf may be our favorite thing to fall asleep to on the TV, the simulator can also turn into a party game at your house when you’re not using it to step up your game.

6. Preventative Botox ($800)

The “Zoom Boom” has hit the cosmetic surgery industry. And if it’s preventative, who are we to try to stand in the way? Cameras are just going to keep getting clearer…

5. Cybertruck ($60,000)

While Elon may have fumbled the big reveal for this one, we’re all for the Cybertruck purchase. Helping the environment and turning heads along the way? Win-win.

4. Aaron Zulpo Art ($10,000)

This Brooklyn-based artist has a way of making you feel out of the present moment with his art. This welcomed-escapism has a pair of our HENRYs pining for more in 2022. Can’t blame them there.

3. Gucci GG Marmont Mini Bucket Bag ($980)

Because sometimes the finishing touch is the best touch :eyes:

2. Vintage '82 Rolex ($10,000)

Go ahead and put the class in vintage classic. A car. Family jewelry. A Rolex. Imagine passing this timepiece down through the generations after you get your wear out of it. Even though you’d probably have to bury us in this watch. Yeah. It’s that good looking.

THE #1 GOAL OF 2021: Study ceramics in Japan ($15,000)

Cheers to this couple who wants to learn from the best in the game and is saving up to do it.

Spending the money you’ve earned should be fun. Not guesswork. Unless that’s what your f*ck off fund is for, then by all means do what you want.

What do you want your money to be able to do for you?

Don’t let the idea of having these conversations deter you from actually having the conversation. It’s not about waiting until you have $X saved, or until $X debt is paid off, or until you’re making $X. Why wouldn’t you call in help for doing these things? You’re on a blog - so your motives are on full display here.

Getting help behind the scenes should make your life easier. It’s literally the sole purpose of therapists. Why wouldn’t the same be true for your finances?

It’s why we created the Stash Plan. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know what to plan for, or are embarrassed about the amount of debt you have, or don’t even really know what investing means. This is how you figure it out.

We say it all the time around here - spend it like you earned it. Because you did. When your bases are covered in the long run, it’s time to dream big about what else you can do. Life is too short not to.

Don’t let not knowing what you want to plan for stop you from seeing what happens when you take the first step to actually doing it. Time to get off of the sideline. Because spending the money you’ve earned should be fun. Not guesswork.

You don’t have to be sitting on a giant stash to get started, either. But the sooner you start, the more you can do with what you’re bringing in.

Check out the Stash Plan for help in talking things through. You’ve had conversations before. This is one of the easiest you’ll ever have with someone over the age of 12.
